4. “Characteristics of test signal to be generated” と題する項で、最初の小タイトルとして “Maximum envelope excursion” とあります。「最大包絡偏位」などという言葉にしていまいましたが、こんなのありますか(Q4-1)？この小タイトルの内容は The maximum envelope excursion of the test signal shall equal the maximum envelope excursion of an unmodulated sine wave whose rms value is defined in paragraph 6.4.2 of AnnexⅠ.です。また、後に minimum envelope excursion がでてきて「最小包絡偏位」としてしまいました。 (Q4-2)前述の文でunmodulated とあります。ここでは未変調・不変調・無変調のどれに相当しますか？ 5. 800mm stripline testing の中の Positioning of stripline という小タイトルの中に、 The stripline shall be housed in a screened room (to prevent external emissions) and positioned 2m away from walls and … とあります。a screened room を「遮蔽されている部屋」、external emissions を「外部輻射」としました。いかがでしょう？実は輻射と放射とよく分かってません。 6. ground plane というのが頻出します。「接地面」でいいでしょうか（Q6-1）。文例は小タイトル 150mm stripline testing の項で、 The test method allows the generation of homogeneous fields between an active conductor (the stripline 50Ω impedance), and a ground plane (the conducting surface of the mounting table), between which part of the wiring harness may be inserted. The electronic controller(s) of the ESA under test shall be installed on the ground plane but outside the stripline with one of its edges parrallel to the active conductor of the stripline. (Q6-2)上記の文で the mounting table は「取付け台」なんてやってしまいましたが、どうですか？ 7. Free field ESA immunity test という大項目の中の、Test bench descriptionという中タイトルに The test shall be performed inside a semi-anechoic chamber on a bench top. とあります。後半の部分を「ベンチ上の半無響室」としましたが、机上の部屋のようで、違和感があります。 8. 7.の大項目、中タイトルのなかの “Ground plane” という小タイトルに、 The minimum size of the ground plane depends on the size of the ESA under test but shall allow for the distribution of the ESA’s wiring harness and components. と一文があり、ここで the distribution of を「ESAの配線ハーネスとコンポーネントの分の余裕をとる」としました。間違っているでしょうか？ 9. 7.の大、中タイトルのなかの ”Installation of ESA under test” という小タイトルで、 All leads and cables shall be a minimum of 100 mm from the edge of the ground plane and the distance to the ground plane shall be 50 mm above the ground plane. ここで100㎜はリード線、ケーブルの長さですね。 10. 7.大項目に中タイトル “Field generating device type, position and orientation” とあり、小タイトル “Height” 中 The phase center of any antenna shall be 150mm avoce the ground plane on which the ESA under test rests. とあります。 (Q10-1) Field generating device は「フィールド生成装置」でＯＫ？ (Q10-2) phase center は「フェーズ0�センター」でＯＫ？

記事番号291へのコメント折口学です。続きです。 >6. ground plane というのが頻出します。「接地面」でいいでしょ >うか（Q6-1）。前述した辞書の中に、ground plane の定義がありました。 an embedded metal layer for connecting many points to one or more ground pins in the circuit. ②では、これだけなので、ちょっと方法論の話を。以前このＨＰでも書いたのですが、質問をする場合はできれば、自分が何を調べたかも書いて頂きたいと思います。「辞書に載ってなかった」ではプロとして失格です。辞書の名前、できれば版まで書いて、それを調べたけどもなかった、と書いてあれば、回答してみようという方の手間も省けます。そういった厳密な態度が引いては翻訳者の社会的地位を向上することにつながると思いますので、是非とも心掛けてください。じゃあ、実際、色々な文献を調べてもない場合どうするか。私が以前やったのは、専門用語の対訳表を作ってクライアントに見せることです。クライアントは少なくともこちらより、その分野の知識を持っていることが多いので、判断してもらえます。もちろん、その場合、何故、自分がその単語にそういった訳を与えたか、ある程度根拠が分かるようにしておくべきでしょう。では、３枚目に行きます。
