こんばんは。レンズレットについて訳していますが．．．下の(1)と(2)の文は、連続している文ではありません。 (1)の　focus the light back on itselfと(2)のreflecting the light exactly back on itself　ですが、「光を光自体に逆に集束する」「光を光自体に正確に逆に反射する」で良いものかどうか、教えていただければ幸いです。 (1)　The mirrors are designed to focus the light back on itself so that the focus of the reflected beam is generally coincident with the first focus . (2)　The reflective portion could be a Fresnel mirror, that is, aseries of grooves with a reflective coating. Other arrangements are used in other embodiments, but reflecting the light exactly back on itself minimizes aberrations.

記事番号2855へのコメントなんだか字面のみで考えているようでお恥ずかしいですが、図を見てもよく分かりません。「光自体に」ではなくて、(1)は「ミラー自体」、 (2)は「構成自体」ということはあり得るでしょうか。単数と複数から言って違うと思うのですが。

記事番号2855へのコメントかみきさん、こんにちは。前後の文脈や図面を見ないとはっきりしないんですが、"on itsef"は、しいて訳すと「光路上に」というような意味ではないでしょうか。つまり、反射によって光が折り返し、反射前の光と重なって焦点を結ぶというような。
