以下の文は文法的に多少妙なところがあるようですが、source codeが自己のディスク上でsegregateするとはどういう意味かどなたかご存じでしょうか? Where source code backup causes added disruption, e.g., source code segregated on its own disk or backup to a low capacity medium, "saves" may be performed less frequently than for object code. 「自己のディスク」とはオリジナルが存在するディスクのことかと思いますが、segregateとは「断片化する」と同じような意味でしょうかね

記事番号3224へのコメント藤岡さん、こんにちわ手持ちの辞書ファイルに segregate to: 分離する (UNIX) とあります。元々連続したブロックに記録されていた１つのソースコードが、バックアップによって連続していない複数の小さなブロックに分離した状態になる: つまり fragmented: 寸断される、細分化される、断片化されると同じことじゃないかと思いますが．．．確信はありません。

記事番号3224へのコメント藤岡　裕さん、ぺんぺん草さん、こんばんは。　質問の分野とは異なるところで使われている用語の紹介です。参考にしてください。 “segregate”の意味として、金属組織の分野などでは、“偏析する”を使います。 1)JISの一例　JIS Z2300：非破壊試験用語　偏析＝合金元素や不純物が“不均一に偏在している”現象又はその状態。 2)WEBSTERの意味　segregate: to set apart from others or from the main mass or group.

Surprisingly, the meaning of the original English turned out to be as follows: If the source code is backed up (stored) to a different disk (from the one you are currently using), or to a low-capacity storage device, and backing up the source code interferes with the work process, then you do not have to back up the source code as often as the object code. In other words, if backing up the source code is a pain, don't do it so often. Thanks aga
