missing と absentの違い	MO	8264	8/29-20:30
こんばんは。ひとつ質問させてください。医学論文ですが以下のような文が出てきました。ここで困ったのが missing diagnosesとabsent diagnosesの違いなんですが、英和辞典をいくら眺めてもその違いがわかりません。missingの方は診断はしたがそれが行方不明、absentの方は診断をしていないということなのかなと想像している次第です。結局missing と absentの違いだ思うのですが、アドバイスお願いします。 XXX do not distinguish between missing diagnoses and absent diagnoses.

記事番号8264へのコメント MOさん、こんばんは。 >XXX do not distinguish between missing diagnoses and absent >diagnoses. 文脈がわからないので断定的には言えませんが、この一文を見る限り、結果的に特定の疾患が診断されなかったことについて、その理由が missingであるかabsentであるかは不問にするということではないかと思います。ですので、 missing diagnosis = 病院等で検査したが、疾患が見過ごされた。 absent diagnosis = 患者が病院等へ行かないなどの理由で、診断される機会がなかった。ということではないでしょうか。 missingは確かに「行方不明」と載っていますが、動詞のmissには「～を逃す」「～しそこなう」の意味がありますので。

Intensivists made 694 clinical diagnoses. Autopsies revealed 171 missing diagnoses, including 21 cancers, 12 strokes, 11 myocardial infarctions, 20 pulmonary emboli, and nine endocarditis, according to the abstract. diagnostic errors ＝　missing diagnoses absent は、診断がつかない？（検査しにくい精神病など）カルテの診断名の書き方では「---の疑い」もありますが。
