Faster than a dog can trotcitroen 87042/16-17:29

こんにちは。
フリーで映像翻訳をはじめて５年目の翻訳者です。
テレビ番組や映画などを訳していて、内容は
ドラマやドキュメンタリーと幅広くやっております。
（主に字幕やボイスオーバーを作っています。）



今回は、古い映画の字幕を訳しているのですが
下記の意味がわかりません。

I think you´re lying. Faster than a dog can trot.


ネットでこのフレーズ「Faster than a dog can trot」を検索すると
「ウソをついてるんだろう」というときに付ける決まり文句
のようなのですが、全体的な意味はどのようになるのでしょうか？

「犬が走れるようになるより速く」と考えても、
犬って生まれてから走れるようになるまで
数日かかりますよね。それともfast は「速い」以外の
意味なのでしょうか。

どなたかわかるかた、宜しくお願い致します。

確か問題文は、

の上から１/２辺りに、

with being.
He enjoyed being taken for eighteen.
"At least you don't lie about your age,"
she had once assured him.

The implication, that he lied as fast as a dog can
trot about everything else, was true so far as she was
concerned.

とあり、
「少なくとも年齢については、うそを言わないのね。」
（ということは　implication)
でも、他のことについてはではなんでもかんでも、
すぐに次々とうそを言う。

といった、意味でしょうか？

なるほど、確かにロングマンイディオム英英辞典にも
trotの項目で

「used in order to say that something has happened several
times, one after the other」

と出ています。
ということは、全体的な意味としては
「どうせまたウソを言ってるんだろう」
くらいで訳せば良さそうですね。
